Hold on! There are many Rhetorical styles not just one.
Blog #3 Assignment 3
Rhetorical Style of writing
We have done so many assignments up to this point in time, which means I have learned a lot. One of the many topics that has impacted me the most is the types of rhetorical styles there are when it comes to writing.
I have heard that in writing there were different types if rhetorical styles that are use to either inform, persuade or motivate readers in different ways and situations. However, at of all the times schools made me read articles and I personally decide to read books, I have never pay close attention to what the books, articles, blogs, or journals  rhetorical style is, and even what is behind their writing.
The assignment that helped me understand in a more detail and analytical way, the different kinds of rhetorical styles there are, was Paper 2. Here I was able not only to understand the different types of rhetorical style but also see the rhetorical style of writing from a psychology perspective which is hopefully my future major.
I was reflecting on the fact that there is no specific rhetorical method, or strategy to follow, since there are so many styles of rhetoric writing, I believe and observe that does styles come from the diverse amount of discourses we have in society. What I mean by that is that each writer has different discourses, which means their rhetorical style will be different. Now I asked myself if everyone would be able to understand that specific writers rhetorical style (discourse), but I believe that even though they might not come or have the same discourse, there will always be different interpretations of a writer’s rhetorical style.
In example, I can use the article, I used for paper 2 assignment. It was given to me by a teacher who liked the article a lot because she believed it was just the perfect for a student who was going to major in that. The teacher explained to me how the article talked about the reasons why becoming a psychologist; she also explained how the data that the article provided was recent and reliable. Here in my own point of view the teacher understood this rhetorical style, in a informative, positive way since she is in the same discourse as the writer. Now when it came my turn to analyze the rhetorical style of the paper and the discourse, my understanding of it was totally different. I was doing a more in depth analysis of the article and the style of the writing and I agree that it had reliable statistics, and that the reasons for becoming a psychologist were good but I also observed that there were some invisible narratives behind the writing, I observed that it was not only about giving statistics but making gender stereotypes, also it was not only about giving information about psychology but persuading students by altering some information. I was able to notice all of this by analyzing the rhetorical style, compare  to the teacher she looked at the article and read it as her discourse matched the writers rhetorical style, but as my English teacher taught me a few weeks ago, articles are more than words, they are more than just letters in a paper. Writing is all about rhetorical styles depending on the writers discourse.
