It is almost the end of the semester and I did not interact with everyone in class. But, that’s okay at some point because I only talk to people who talk to me first. With the people I have interacted with are so nice and I have learned the different ideas they have about the topics we have talked in class. I really like this English class, and I am glad I took it with the most open and awesome teacher. Sadly, she will be leaving to Australia.

I never expected to talk about such controversial topics in an English class. I thought we were going to talk about how we are supposed to write, and write and write essay after essay. Talking about these topics, like Invisible Narratives is an open eyes experience. I already knew that the media was set up to put people of color down and make white population look good. But, it was more interesting knowing about the different I.N in my major or discipline made me realized and think if that is really where I want to expend the rest of my time and life doing so.  The I.N of my discipline was that people of color or low-income students do not get enough help to go to college, compare to white students. Overall, inequality was the I.N of my discipline article.  When I had trouble understanding my article, and finding the IN. That is why I did not do so well, and I did not felt strong about my paper 2. When I got the comments back from Caitlin I was disappointed, but oh well.  Even though this class is fun, I feel like the papers we have been doing are hard to do. 

 What I think was more powerful about learning IN, was that our teacher was white and she told us how she feels. For example, when she was talking about her feelings I noticed that were really pissed off about the inequality and she started crying. That was very powerful because I used to think all whites did not care about the inequality but I WAS WRONG!

On the other hand, when we had the activity where we had to stand “Do you agree”, “I Don’t Know”, “I Disagree”, based on the SRTOL.  The main argument we had was “ Should students be allow to used their dialect in school”? This was very interesting because some of my classmates agree and other disagreed and others were yes but no. Where I stand was yes but no for the following reason. I think students should be allowed to their dialect but outside their academics, but during their academics they all should be writing and talking on English. I think this because English is the universal language, this way students or anyone can communicate with different people.

But at the time I think this wrong because, we would be taking a student right to his or her own dialect. I mean students are already resected from basic rights when they are school, and taking that right is too much. But, at the same time students would be learning the language they need to successes on this country. Doing this activity was really hard, because for me I did not know where to stand, which side to take, especially with my morals.

            The last thing I was to say I really like this class. I have a lot of fun when there is arguments or debates because I like to argue a lot and make my point across. Sadly, the end is near.
