California is currently facing one of the most toughest problem ever. Beside the oil shortage in the 70s, we are now short in water! Right now, the water are being used up by people and because of global warming effect, ocean did not looked as effective as it was before. Many oceans and lakes have reduced it size since the 1970s.
Farmers are begin to lose their crops and lands. There aren't enough water to keep resources alive. All farmers can do right now is to pray for a major rain. So far what we are seeing in California is that can we find a way for us to reduce the amount of water we are using and if there is going to be enough time to find a solution before the water is completely dry up. However, at this point many have came up with different solution but it all comes down to a fail plan.
In 2012, the state faced the state's driest since the Dust Bowl crisis in 1930s. With that being said, supposedly this year is most likely to be even drier. How is California going to be drier every year? Have we not used up enough water to realize that we are facing a major drought. Soon or later there will not be any more water for Californian to use.
According to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) meteorologist Brad Rippey, explained to 24/7 Wall St. that drought has been a long-running issue in parts of the country. "This drought has dragged on for three and a half years in some areas, particularly (in) North
Texas," The government have yet to come up with a strategy that could possibly helped reduced using the water.
75% of the land in California are under extreme drought. Which is the nation's worst drought problem. Our government Jerry Brown had announced a state of emergency earlier the year as the drought get worst. But even with that, we have yet figuring out a plan for the future people.
It is not just the California that is being dry up. But, states like Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada are starting to get close to California. With their rivers and lakes getting dried up as the day goes by. There isn't a plan to avoid the global warming. I believed what people should start to do is that when using water like washing dishes, shower or watering the plant. Reduce the amount of water every time you are using it. Such as turn down the water pressure for showering. You don’t need fast water pressure to take a shower. Also for washing dishes, try to avoid using the dishwasher. Because the dishwasher uses massive water whereas, you can just hand wash the dishes and use less amount of the water. It can still have the same result as using the dishwasher.
Even thought in the restaurant the waiter or waitress serves you unlimited free water. I believe it is a time for a change. For example, we don’t have to charge the first order that you order but in the second water there is going to be a fee to it. So that way people would stop ordering free water and not finish it in the end. Because when you waste drinking water in the end. It’ll add up with many other customer in the restaurant. Eventually we are throwing gallons and gallons of water away. Some may argue that restaurant should continue to give out water because there shouldn’t be a charge towards water that we can drink from the sink. But what some may do not know is that if we constantly giving out free water without being aware of what the global warming and drought is doing to our states. Then, I believed it should be a consideration.
Water is the most essential need for not just people but the planet itself. Water helps Earthto maintain its atmosphere and hotness. Without water to cool down the land, there is going to be a high possible chance of volcano eruption and cracked land. Plants are going to die without water to keep them alive. And also human are not going to able to survive without water in their system since we hold 90% water in our body.
