Immigration

Immigration
Some of the most intelligent individuals who don’t have a great a future in their countries bring their skills to America. These individuals suffer a lot by coming here were they have to adapt not only to the weather but the language as well. Why should the U.S make them suffer more by not giving the full capability to succeed in the future? It is not fair for them if all they are trying to achieve a goal that most likely their parents weren’t able to.
Coming to the United States is tough. Many people don’t see it that way since they might of have born here. They don’t know what its like to struggle trying to express yourself when you don’t even know the language. The people that are born here have all the resources meanwhile others have to suffer.
Each step to succeed is tough. For example, Obama our current president has made it possible for some individuals to have the opportunity to attend school and being able to work legally. But before that the whole community had to get together and work towards that achievement. I myself am part of those who were blessed to get DACA, which is referred to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. The rules are very strict in order to be accepted. Its not like it was just an application were anyone could apply and be accepted. So I still don’t know why people are against it, if we are planning to be part of the community, work and have a decent job.
Yet most Americans that are against it can care less whether we attend school or not. Their “knowledge” as they may call it is not reasonable. They think that most immigrants come here to take their jobs, join gangs or that we are here to consume a high amount of government resources without paying a corresponding high rate of taxes. If that was the case why aren’t the majority of the white population or the Native Americans working as janitors, house cleaners or picking fruits with bad work conditions? That’s right, it’s not considered as taking their jobs away if it’s something that they don’t see themselves working as. And then, their opinion about us meaning more opportunity for drug dealers or gang bangers have the wrong ideology. That’s why the DACA application is so strict so that not just anyone can get.
When I first came here I was 5 years old, I was so little to understand why was it that I wouldn’t get to see my grandma and cousins anymore. I knew we had gone on a airplane but never thought it would be for good. My parents were just looking for my siblings and I to get a better education since in my country El Salvador you cant get far in life. I know there are other people here who come with good intentions. Whether is to improve their economic situation or to get a higher education. I now have the opportunity to attend school and not just that but to be the first one in my family to attend a university.
The estimate amount of undocumented people living in the US is 11 million. Lets think about the life of other and try to help out. I believe society would be much better if the adults who are undocumented have the opportunity to get a driver license and work legally. Right now it was only approved for the youth but I know that the adults need that extra help too. I think they are the ones that suffer the most since most drive illegally or cant find a job were there isn’t bad working conditions. There needs to be something done now. If we all raise our voice we can achieve what we want and have immigrants not face discrimination daily, bad working conditions, not being able to achieve a high education or having to be illegal and drive without a license.
