Make Health Care Accessible

Health care is not very affordable and it is causing America to become one of the unhealthiest countries. Even though we invest a lot of money into health care, it is still not enough to make it more affordable for everyone. Health care isn’t obtainable by the people who have low-income because of the high costs, and that is making it harder for them to live longer.
On the Health Olympics chart, we are currently ranked in 29-31st place. We are in that rank because of our inability to access the health care we deserve. Health care systems make it difficult for us to get access to affordable medical care. Studies shows that people who have an annual income that is below $5000-$10000 has poor health.

According to the article “Funding healthy society help cure health care,” there are many studies that show doctors diagnosing their patients with socially biased views, and that causes more disease than it does cure. The doctor in this article even admitted her inexperience in helping low-income people in this sentence: “My medical training had not prepared me for this ambush of social circumstances.” All of the doctors in the world were trained to over treat patients so they could find a way to cure us. They were trained to find diseases and foreign pathogens in our bodies, but they were not trained to ask the simplest question; which is “When did you last eat?

There over billions of dollars spent on health care alone and a lot of the money is wasted because doctors are looking at many patients with the view that there is a medical problem with us, when in actuality there is a social problem with us. We are broke and we cannot afford healthy food or proper physical wellness.

The people who can afford the expensive health care are the 1%. They make the more money than the 90% combined and they are the ones who will most likely live the longest. Study shows that even if the 1% was to do the same bad habits as us like smoking and drinking, they would still love the longest. They can afford for doctors and the medical equipment that can help make them healthier.

The lower class is not as fortunate as the upper class because they do not have the means to obtain healthy produce and health care. Bills from doctors are thousands of dollars and that is most of the paycheck that they earn from hard labor. There are also very few places that they can go to for food, because most of the time they are surrounded by fast food chains. The money that you make is already low as it is, so why must you overpay for medical services that should already be given to you?

Sure there are medical programs like Medical and Medicaid available for people of low income, but there are only certain people who are able to get Medical. People who make less than $5000 are eligible but if you make more than that, they restrict you from getting it. There's also Food stamp available, but you can only get Food stamp if you're a single mother, you have low-income, or you're unemployed. Since politicians think that people are abusing Food stamp now, they have started to really crackdown on people who seem to not deserve Food stamp and they've cut down on the how much money going to Food stamp. A lot of the services that are similar to Food stamp and Medical have become harder to apply for because of the high demand for it.

There are many hard-working people in the world and they are all working till they are ragged and tired. They need regular checkups too so that they can continue to make a living for them and their family. They should be able to live longer, especially since they have worked harder for it. Health care should be much more obtainable, but what is the real reason for why we can’t have it? There are many disparities in our health care, so what can we do to fix it? How can we make it so that everyone can afford the health care they deserve?
