Television view women in a different way. The women
that they show on commercials are usually skinny, blonde, the one that has nice
body, and etc. When they have these types of girls on their commercial, the
people that made the commercial are trying to send a message to all the ladies
should look like the girl from the commercial. However, they still photo shop
the picture/video of the girl that they are taking a picture of.
How Advertisements view women
Commercials
like Victoria Secret are a great example because majority of the women that
they put in the commercial are skinny, blonde, white, or have a nice body.
Every time I see commercials by Victoria Secrets, I always wondered that
because they don’t put different variety of ladies on their commercial.
Victoria Secret are saying to be like the girl on the commercial, you have to
buy their product. They never put ladies that are not like the girl in the
commercials.
By
watching commercials like this makes majority of the girls around the world conscious
about their body. Girls thinking that they need to have the exact same body as
the girl on the commercial to look pretty. Girls end up going to the gym
running and trying to lose weight when they are already beautiful.
When
girls are busy trying to be the girl on the commercial, they end up being anorexic
to be skinny. Girls end up eating less and don’t want to eat anything in able
to have a certain weight that they prefer from themselves.
That
is why majority of girls are insecure because what people view as pretty from a
girl is the body, face, blonde, skinny, and etc. Girls end up putting on make
up to cover up and look “pretty” because of the stuff they see in commercials.
Girls are also wearing revealing clothes to make them look attractive because
girls in commercials wear revealing clothes which defines to girls that are
watching that they should do that to be pretty.
Also
commercials like Carl’s Jr made a commercial of a girl wearing her bikini while
eating a Carl’s Jr burger. This commercial makes girls seem like they are
objects to attract people to go to Carl’s Jr. They don’t have to make the girl wear a
bikini. She can just wear her casual clothes. However, it relates to Victoria
Secrets commercial because the girls in both commercials are similar to each
other.
Commercials
like these, need to stop because a lot of young girls that are watching
television end up being insecure about themselves. It also shows a bad message
to guys that are watching television because this will expect this from a girl
to be considered beautiful. That is why young girls start putting on makeup
early in their life to fit in the category of a cute girl. Girls will feel less
insecure when they don’t see commercials like these.
Dude our young women need to see more positive strong women in the media. Instead of a false representation of beauty. I like how you talked about Carls Jr! That commercial just makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteYou describe the commercials, but what about the invisible narratives they convey? What do these portrayals mean about our notions of "perfect" femininity? Also, multi-media and hyperlinks?
ReplyDeleteShit! Serious, this commercials make me sick to my tummy as well. Because Victoria Secret models are super duper skiny and guys watch the fashion shows they get that ideas that the girls need to be like that. If they are not like then they then they wont accept them. On other commercials and Tv shows females are Tick, meaning they have boobs or ass OR both. Media is misrepresenting females because no average wome is like they show it. Again this is a stereotype, degrading them. FUCK YOU SOCIETY!
