Invisible
Narratives

Throughout the course
of the class in this semester, we have being looking at different topics that
would actually link to one another. We started by actually analyzing what
literacy really means, after that we moved to the concept of metaphors. And we
kept moving to other readings that lead us to the concept of Invisible
Narratives and that is what I want to talk about as one of the aspects I have
being discover in class.
I have learned about
invisible narratives in the concept of silences. Which to me they are about the
same thing, however I have learned about them in a more broad way, meaning the
common invisible narratives that we heard about and we know they are there but
we don’t do much about them.
Indeed, I have actually
learned a lot more about invisible narratives in English 214 class. To start
with, it is amazing to me to know that we can find invisible narratives in the
readings we do daily. It impressed me to know that I being reading articles for
most of my existing life, since I started reading and I wasn’t able to identify
the invisible narratives in them. I have learned that Invisible Narratives can
be find in kids books, news papers, articles, blogs, TV shows, posters, even in
a simple name of a store. They have always being there, the fact of me not
realizing that makes me think of how blind I am and how blind society as a
whole is.
Also, I have learned
that invisible narratives are sometimes even created or supported by other unintentionally,
meaning it’s not a person’s fault to say something that would support the
invisible narrative. Some people grow up following their families’ beliefs and
culture, this means they act and say and do what their family taught them to do
but that doesn’t mean it’s their intention to do so.
I have also learned
that with invisible narratives, famous writers, actors and people in media they
do and say according to what is being told them to do or say or else they won’t
get pay well enough or they won’t attract society with what is often call usual
for them.
In addition to all invisible
narratives, are found almost everywhere and with anyone around us. People of
the same culture and beliefs even put out in practice invisible narratives unintentionally
and some do intentionally but those are other stories. Kids and teenagers
practice invisible narratives without noticing. Everyone does in society we all
try to fit in and follow the same path as others even when we know that there
is something wrong with it.

I was impressed too because I never mind that a simple reading can told us to much racial discrimination, sexism and stereotypes into a form of secrets messages and not only readings also tv shows an books from amazing authors. and I'm agree with you that everybody grow with this invisible narrative because since we are children we see tv shows.
